FRANCIS LAPORTE is one the new wave of designers who have introduced digital production and projection technologies into traditional live shows. After studying communications and drama, he specialized in stage direction and design. In the course of his twelve-year career, he has been responsible for more than fifteen integrated video and performing arts projects, most of them for the stage (including L'Odyssée, at Montreal's Théâtre National). He also designs a range of visual effects for major televised events such as Les Jeux de la Francophonie, Hommage à André Gagnon (opening show of the 2002 edition of the Francofolies de Montréal) and the Jutra Award ceremony. Since 1999, FRANCIS LAPORTE has worked with the Cirque du Soleil, in particular on Dralion, Varekai, and LOVE, the permanent show at Las Vegas' Mirage Hotel. He also staged singer Jorane's show and co-designed, with Serge Denoncourt, the Eros Ramazzotti show for its world tour of 2003/2004.
