He won his public renown with television characters such as Étienne Parent in Fortier, François in Watatatow, Carl in Radio Enfer, Claude Charron in René Lévesque and Stéphane in La Galère, but FRANÇOIS CHÉNIER also conquered the hearts of theatre and film enthusiasts. On stage, he was part of La place de l'autre (Théâtre des Marguerites), Ladie's Night (Zone 3), Simone avait des ailes (Théâtre de l'allumette), Les bas-fonds (TNM) et Sainte-Jeanne (Compagnie Jean Duceppe). On the big screen, his work includes Embrasse-moi c'est pour la vie (J.-G. Noël), On a marché sur la lune (J. Prégent), Le survenant (E. Canuel) et Saints-Martyrs-des-Damnés (R. Aubert). In 2002, FRANÇOIS CHÉNIER received the MetroStar award for best artist in a youth program (Radio-Enfer).
