A novelist, YING CHEN
is a French language and literature graduate of the Shanghai University.
She moved to Montreal in 1989 and obtained a masters degree in creative
writing from McGill University. After her first novel, La mémoire
de leau, she wrote Lingratitude. Translated
in several languages, this book was nominated for the 1995 Prix Fémina,
as well as for the Governor Generals Award. It earned her the Quebec-Paris
Award. Since then, shes published two other novels, Immobile
and Le Champs dans la mer, and a third one, Querelle
dun squelette avec son double, that has just come out at
Éditions du Boréal and at Éditions du Seuil. In the past, YING
CHEN has also published poems, short stories and an essay.
