PIERRE BILLON, a novelist
and a screenwriter of Swiss origin, has lived in Canada since 1965. Very
active in the film scene, hes written Un Homme et son péché
with the director Charles Binamé, and Nouvelle France directed
by Jean Beaudin. He taught at the University of Montreal, as well as being
the editor of the educational magazine at Éditions Fides, and directing
a teachers development project at the ministère des Affaires culturelles
et de la radiodiffusion. He then became Senior Advisor to the Department
of Communications. Teacher at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Arts,
hes published his first novel, LOgre de barbarie,
in 1972. Several literary successes followed, including Lenfant
du cinquième Nord (1982), Lultime alliance
(1990) and Un bâillement du diable (1998). Since 2001, he
teaches screenwriting at INIS and since 2003 he is responsible for the
screenwriting program, feature film section.
